Reuters have reported that European Union countries have plans to crackdown on anonymous payment methods which are believed to be supporting criminal and terrorist activities.
Apparently a meeting was called for last Friday at which EU ministers will urge the European Commission to look at ways to strengthen controls of non-banking payments such as virtual currencies and pre-paid cards.
Bitcoin is highlighted as an anonymous payment method of interest along with gift cards. Both easily used for moving money anonymously.
